Just as he did in Qatar, where he helped La Albiceleste win a third World Cup, Messi put on another mesmerising display, scoring a stunning free-kick. His goal, combined with Thiago Almada’s early goal, gave Lionel Scaloni’s team a two-nil victory over Panama in Buenos Aires. Messi is now on 800 career goals.
