“They believe that everyone should bow to them,” UEFA president slams Real Madrid and Florentino Perez for continuing to advocate for the Super League
UEFA president slams Real Madrid's Perez
Apple+ has recently released a documentary series called ‘War for Soccer’, which follows the creation of the Super League (SuperLiga). It is proposed as the parallel project of the UEFA Champions League, which has shaken the foundations of European football. In the first episode, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin passed some bold comments about Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
“There are many sharks swimming in the sea of football. Since I heard about the SuperLiga for the first time, I knew who would be in charge . Because it had been a while publicly complaining about a club like theirs playing smaller clubs. They think they are some kind of elite club that shouldn’t care about anyone else because they are so important that everyone should bow down to them. They are Real Madrid and their president is Florentine Perez,” said Ceferin, as per MARCA.
The Slovenian was sharp and direct with his statements in the docu-series released on the Apple platform. There are four episodes of the ongoing war and cross-relationship between the major players in international football. However, one thing the documentary does not answer is that who’s gonna win it and they might never will.
The story in the documentary is about the Super League, a plan to bring all the top teams into one competition. Interestingly, Ceferin also suggested that Andrea Agnelli, an Italian businessman, betrayed him and UEFA. Agnelli served as chairman of the Italian football club Juventus FC from May 2010 until his resignation in November 2022.
