Barcelona faces competition from Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Carlos Soler

Carlos Soler has earned himself a lot of praise in recent years with Valencia. The player even featured for Spain in their international games recently where he netted against the Czech Republic as well.

Diego Simeone had reportedly asked Atletico Madrid to sign Carlos Soler as soon as the transfer window opened earlier this month. The Los Rojiblancos remain adamant on the midfielder but Barcelona is also in the race now.

As reported by AS, Barcelona and Xavi only want Soler as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong should the player leave. There is still no agreement on personal terms with the player hence, the deal could still fall apart.

Soler has been exceptional for Valencia over the last few years. Operating mainly as a right-sided midfielder, the player has registered 24 goals and 14 assists over the last two years in La Liga.

Carlos Soler may not be the perfect replacement for Frenkie de Jong with both players having different traits but he could surely add real quality to the Barcelona side.
