As can be seen in the video below, Cristiano Ronaldo got heated up during practise and pulled off some amazing skill to nutmeg colleague Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United. He pulled off a ludicrous move and was observed laughing at it.
Although Ronaldo appears to be in good spirits during training, rumours about his future at the club abound due to his limited playing time. The 37-year-old has only made one Premier League start for Manchester United under new manager Erik ten Hag, and he wasn’t even used as a substitute in the team’s most recent matchup with archrival Manchester City on Sunday.
The 52-year-old Dutch coach defended his choice by saying that he refrained from substituting Ronaldo during the match against the Citizens out of respect for him because his team was behind badly at the time. At halftime, the Red Devils trailed their fierce rivals 4-0 before dropping the match 6-3.
Ten Hag provides a crucial update on Cristiano Ronaldo’s prospects
Most of the inquiries at Erik ten Hag’s news conference concerned Cristiano Ronaldo’s future because he was not playing in a crucial match like the Manchester derby. When the club was trailing 4-0 at the half and the Dutch coach was questioned why he did not start the 37-year-old, he responded,
“I can’t see that relation, that he’s not coming on when we are 4-0 down, 5-1 down, 6-1 down and I don’t bring him on out of respect. It’s nothing to do what’s happening for the future, what’s happening for January or next year. I don’t see he is unhappy. He’s happy, he is training well. He’s enjoying it and I think everyone is training well. It is a good spirit and vibe in the training so that’s not the point but it’s important because it is a base to work well.”
He concluded his remarks by adding, “He is not happy that he wasn’t playing on Sunday, don’t get me wrong. But that wasn’t the question. The question was what he is like on the training pitch and what his mood is around [the team]. He is happy. But of course, he wants to play and he is p****d off when he is not playing, clearly.”
Even though Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t played much this season, he nevertheless proved to Martinez that he has all the necessary talents by pulling off an incredible nutmeg.
