WATCH: Gerard Pique refuses to let Frenkie De Jong sit with his girlfriend during Barcelona game
The Dutch midfielder had a surprised reaction after Pique's behaviour
Gerard Pique can’t seem to escape from headlines these days, especially after his breakup with Shakira. The ex-Barcelona defender has yet again stirred up social media after what seemed to be footage of him involved in a heated conversation with Frenkie De Jong and his girlfriend after Pique refused to move seats to let De Jong sit next to his partner.
This entire event attracted all kinds of reactions on social media as some people even insisted the player should join Manchester United. The Red Devils had earlier been heavily linked with a move for the Dutchman but had failed in their pursuit of acquiring his services.
The Blaugrana’s 21 was pretty surprised by the event and couldn’t believe it as he gave an amusing look to his girlfriend who witnessed the entire incident considering they were teammates for the Catalans and had a healthy relationship between them. It is fair to say that Pique’s character has completely changed after his infamous breakup and he is no more the loved legend of Barcelona.
The United fans seem to be taking advantage of the situation and are clearly keen on the former Ajax player and they had their feelings felt on social media platforms. A fan wrote, “Come to Man Utd bro, we won’t treat you like this, I promise.” Another supporter added: “Treated like an outcast,” “He will be worshipped by fans and players if he agreed to join us…but blind loyalty.”

Barcelona prioritizing contract registration of four players before making new signings amidst Frenkie de Jong extension rumors
Barcelona is in quite a difficult situation now. Despite being top of La Liga and favorites to win the Copa Del Ray, they have been struggling financially for the past few seasons and the outburst of Javier Tebas regarding their summer transfer window ban was the last straw. Furthermore, the Blaugrana are prioritizing the contract registrations of the likes of Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Marcos Alonso, and Sergi Roberto before looking for new faces as per reports.
Barça managed to register Gavi on the last day of the winter transfer window after Barcelona Mercantile Court ordered a precautionary measure. However, it must be remembered that La Liga made an appeal against the ruling due to Financial Fair Play rules. If the judge dismisses that appeal, Barcelona will walk out of any problem. In the other scenario, where La Liga wins the appeal, Barcelona will have to do a lot to adjust their salary margin further to comply with his registration.
Once everything is done with regard to the registrations of Gavi, Araujo, Alonso, and Roberto, only then Barcelona will look to bring in new players at Camp Nou in the summer.
