The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player David Beckham, in a recent interview, picked Lionel Messi as his favorite player over his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi signed for the Miami-based franchise earlier this week.

Lionel Messi will soon join the Major League Soccer Club Inter Miami in the future once everything gets materialized. The co-owner of the club David Beckham in a recent interview praised the Argentine for his decision to play for Inter Miami and also called him a great person.

Beckham in a recent interview told, “It has to be Messi. He is a great person, but I think what everybody loves about him is the way he plays the game. He plays the game with passion, he plays the game… just free. I think this past World Cup again, the way he played for his country and to win that World Cup is an incredible moment for him and I love watching players like him.”

However, Lionel Messi has not yet signed with the club but in an interview, he told, “I decided to go to Miami. I still haven’t closed it 100% and some things are missing but well we decided to continue the journey there.”

The Argentine could make his first debut match for Inter Miami against Mexican side Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup and could make his first MLS debut against Charlotte FC on August 21.

The Argentine legend has faced criticism from Barcelona fans for his decision to play for Inter Miami and not for Barcelona. Many fans have also claimed that the Argentine player chose money over football by deciding to sign Inter Miami.

The World Cup winner in his recent interview has closed the mouths of all critics by giving the actual reason for signing Inter Miami and not Barcelona. In the interview, the Argentine made it clear by saying, “I made the decision to go to Miami.”

Messi then flung all the rumors regarding choosing money over a career, the Argentine told, “If it had been a question of money, I would have gone to [Saudi] Arabia or another place. The truth is that my decision was for another reason and not because of money.”

Lionel Messi then gave the actual reason to play for Inter Miami, the former Barcelona player told, “It was about living in the United States, in a different way and enjoying day to day much more but with the same responsibility of wanting to win and always doing things well, but with more peace of mind.”
