Manchester City‘s players and staff celebrate the moment as they clinched a third consecutive Premier League title. Following Saturday’s training session ahead of Sunday’s home clash with Chelsea, the players gathered to watch the finale of Arsenal’s game at Nottingham Forest. It was known beforehand that if Forest won, it meant the Sky Blues would be crowned title winners for the fifth time in six years.
And, as shown in a video released by the club, the players couldn’t contain their joy and delight when the final whistle sounded at the City Ground, confirming another incredible title success. Manchester City wins their fifth Premier League title in six years after Arsenal‘s 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday and Pep Guardiola’s side will lift the trophy after Sunday’s match against Chelsea.
The result leaves Manchester City with an insurmountable four-point lead at the top of the table over the Gunners, who have just one game remaining this season. A sensational run of 11 consecutive wins in the final weeks of the season has seen City dismantle Arsenal’s charge for a first Premier League title since 2003/04. City is now two victories away from completing a Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble, a feat only achieved once in English football by Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola has said his Manchester City side must win the Champions League before they can be regarded as one of the greatest teams of all time, despite their superb domestic record since his first Premier League title in 2018. A treble of the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League would make them only the second team in English history to win all three trophies in the same season.
It would, however, be the second time Guardiola has managed a side to the treble, after Barcelona’s triumph in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League in 2008-09. That team is regarded by many as one of the greatest, a tag his current City side is beginning to become associated with after Wednesday night’s destruction of Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
But Guardiola agrees with those who feel only success in Europe will solidify City’s place among the all-time greats. “The team is really good but I’m in agreement with the media and people saying we have to win in Europe to be considered as the same type as those teams,” he said. “Those teams, they’ve won not just once, but many times in Europe.
