Sevilla FC’s Jules Kounde has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona:

Jules Kounde, a defender for Sevilla, has reportedly agreed to a £51 million agreement with Barcelona, dealing a major blow to Chelsea’s pursuit of him.

Before Sevilla moved the goalposts and Chelsea refused, the 23-year-old was about to come to Stamford Bridge last summer.

The team of Thomas Tuchel was once again interested in signing him this summer, but in the early stages of the window, they chose to pursue Matthijs de Ligt and Nathan Ake instead. They gave up on each of their attempts and returned to Kounde.

A £55 million offer was made to Sevilla after the two sides started talking. Since negotiations were still underway and personal terms had already been agreed upon with the player last summer, no progress had been achieved.

Barcelona wants to complete a deal as quickly as possible since Chelsea intends to up their offer in an effort to beat out Thomas Tuchel for the 23-year-old. According to Fabrizio Romano, Kounde’s team sent Barcelona hints that he might be willing to accept their demands after speaking with Xavi over the phone.
