WATCH: Son Heung-min gives grand welcome to Tottenham Hotspurs’ teammates to South Korea for pre-season tour
Son Heung-min was on hand to greet Tottenham’s pre-season squad as they prepared to play two games in South Korea. Spurs have flown to Asia for games against Team K League and Sevilla next week, with the new Premier League season beginning in less than a month.
On Sunday, the Tottenham Hotspur squad arrived at Incheon International Airport, west of Seoul, with a video on the club’s social media channels showing Son embracing first-team stars like Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris with a ‘Welcome to Seoul’ card. They were welcomed by hundreds of screaming locals who came to catch a glimpse of the Premier League players as well as national hero Son.
Son, the captain of the South Korean national team, had to be shielded away from adoring supporters by security guards at the Incheon International Airport as he made his way through the arrivals terminal along to link up with the squad.
Tottenham Hotspurs included new signings in their pre-season tour squad with some casual absentees
The touring squad features new signings Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, and Richarlison, but there is no room for loanee Clement Lenglet, who lacks the necessary documentation to travel to Korea.
Both Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp, who were injured towards the end of last season, have been included, while Bryan Gil and Pape Matar Sarr will have the chance to impress manager Antonio Conte after loan spells with Valencia and Metz, respectively. Spurs are hoping to complete the signings of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon, and Harry Winks during this transfer window.
Tottenham have been very active this summer, and they are still trying to close a few deals before the deadline. Spurs are close to signing Djed Spece from Middlesbrough, who impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, according to The Athletic, but a deal cannot be completed in time for South Korea tour.
