Christian Eriksen
Former Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder, Christian Eriksen announced Monday that he was signing for Manchester United on a free transfer.
The player who spent his entire Premier League career in London, first with Tottenham and then Brentford will sign a new 3-year deal to play for the Red Devils. While the news was exciting for the Reds, it didn’t bode well with the Tottenham fans who were infuriated with Christian Eriksen’s decision.
So much so that one of the fans decided to burn his former Tottenham Hotspurs Jersey and upload the entire video on Social Media. The fan was unhappy as Christian Eriksen was joining one of Tottenham’s arch-rivals in the form of Manchester United.
Eric ten Hag key in convincing Christian Eriksen to sign for Manchester United
It is reported that Christian Eriksen’s first choice was not Manchester United. The player wanted Champions League football and United could only offer Europa League for the upcoming season.
However, Eric ten Hag has 2 phone calls with the player to explain the project to him and convince him that Christian would be an essential part of the project. According to The Telegraph, Eriksen reportedly also asked for wages of £200,000 per week and a £10 million signing-on bonus.
It is unclear if Manchester United agreed to those terms but they are set to sign the player on a free transfer for 3 years until June 2023. Eriksen becomes United’s second signing of the season after Tyrel Malacia while the club push for Lisandro Martinez and Frenkie de Jong.
