What is Qatar’s mandatory COVID App that will be used at the 2022 FIFA World Cup?
2022 FIFA World Cup is set to begin on November 20.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup which is all set to begin in November later this year has received a lot of hate from people around the world and to the extent that FIFA is willing to go just for money. People are literally questioning the governing body on how many more personal liberties will have to be sacrificed just to see the event live.
And now Qatar has come up with a new Covid app named, “Ehteraz” which foreigners will have to follow during their time in Qatar. The must is mandatory to be downloaded by every visitor over the age of 18 and people are scared about the policies and requirements of the application as the app is built for officials to monitor a potential outbreak and aid with contact tracing.
The application has some downsides and is quite horrifying for some people as it tracks the location and Øyvind Vasaasen, a security expert has confirmed that the app needs to have the GPS-aided tracking turned on as always and also needs complete access to the phone, including the ability to read, erase, or modify data and it also has the ability to override all other apps on the phone.
What did Øyvind Vasaasen have to say about the new application?
Vasaasen said, “They can simply change the contents of your entire phone and have full control over the information that is there. It’s not my job to give travel advice, but personally, I would never bring my mobile phone on a visit to Qatar.” Some fans are still demanding an explanation for why Qatar is asking for such complete control over visitors’ devices.
It is very suspicious and very strange that a certain Covid tracking app needs so much information and the biggest problem is most people all over the world don’t really read the terms and conditions form and will likely accept the terms in hurry just to enter the country and support their country and watch them play.
