Mason Greenwood for Manchester United

Amidst rumors of a potential Manchester United return, reports have emerged that Mason Greenwood will never play for the England National Team due to his fallout with the manager, Gareth Southgate. The allegations of rape and assault which Greenwood faced in January 2022 have since then been dropped, which sparked the return rumors.

The news surfaced after Greenwood decided to turn down the opportunity to play for Jamaica as he is eligible to play for them via his mother. Greenwood is said to have turned down the opportunity as he still wishes to play at the highest level with a world-class team.

Manchester United, however, have launched a full-fledged investigation since the charges have been dropped to decide the future of the 21-year-old with the club. Prior to the charges, Greenwood had made 83 appearances for Manchester United where he scored 22 goals and provided 4 assists as he looked set to be one of the brightest talents in the world.

Manchester United celebrating a goal in the FA Cup

Manchester United marched into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a hard-fought 3-1 victory against West Ham. Garnacho inspired a late comeback as United scored two goals in stoppage time to put the game to bed in style.

After being goalless in the first half, Said Benrahma broke the deadlock as West Ham caught United sleeping after a throw-in as Benrahma curled the ball into the top right corner beyond the reach of David De Gea. Shortly after, Casemiro headed the ball home for United, but VAR ruled it as offside. But that came before Nayef Aguerd head the ball into his own net in a set piece which equalized the game.

However, Garnacho’s introduction changed the game, as he curled the ball into the bottom right corner in stoppage time before Fred netted one for himself deep into added time as United cruised to the next round. Manchester United have been drawn against Fulham in the quarters who they will play against on 19 March.
