Yaya Toure curse has actually prevented Manchester City from winning the Champions League

Manchester City dreams to turn their Champions League drought this year. It is not just the dream of Pep Guardiola but a wish from Yaya Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk. In an interview on Monday, he jokingly said that the Shamans from Africa have lifted the curse that hindered Netizen to win the Champions League.

It is said that the Russian agent cursed the Cityzen back in 2018. This was because the Spanish coach allegedly mistreated the Ivory Coast legend, even on his birthday. The agent cursed that the Premier League Giant would not be able to win the Champions League treble ever. Pep Guardiola has failed to win the Champions League.

Manchester City will face Real Madrid this week. The Carlo Ancelotti side will look to defend their cup once again. The Los Blancos defeated the Pep Guardiola side last year in a dramatic comeback. It was believed the loss of City in the finals of 2021 and the Semi-Finals of 2022 against Real Madrid was due to the Toure curse. Now that the curse is said to be lifted by the Shamans, they have superstition along with them as well.

The relationship between Yaya Toure and Pep Guardiola has always been rough even after years

Pep Guardiola has been a successful coach in all the leagues. He shares a good relationship with most of the players. But there are complaints that the relationship with the Spaniards is not smooth for African players. One among them happens to be Yaya Toure

The Ivory Coast player played twice under Pep Guardiola. He played for both Barcelona and Manchester City while the Spaniard was a tactician. The Spaniard in Barcelona replaced him with the B team player Sergio Busquets. The Ivory Coast player was also deprived of playing time at Manchester City.

The Manchester City legend was cursed by Yaya Toure’s agent because of a lack of playing time. One may not believe in superstition but the 2016 superstition came out to be true. Yaya Toure also underestimated the Spaniard’s capability calling him ‘overrated’.

The 39-year-old midfielder gave an apology but Pep has not given any reply to it. The relationship between the Spaniard and his player is not spoken about in the Netizen camp. Pep Guardiola wants to add the Champions League trophy to City’s coffers. The team will lock horns with Real Madrid in the Semi Final leg one.
