“You don’t know about soccer” – Former Argentina teammate defends Lionel Messi after Canelo Alvarez threatens him for allegedly kicking Mexican shirt

After Canelo Alvarez threatened Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero responded to the Mexican fighter. Alvarez lambasted the Argentine for disrespecting Mexico before threatening him, telling him to “hope to God” he doesn’t find him. Alvarez appeared to be still in shock at Messi’s incredible performance against his native Mexico.

“Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag,” Alvarez tweeted. “He better pray to God that I don’t find him. Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico! I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls**t that Messi did.”

While pulling off his boot, Messi appeared to kick a stray Mexico shirt that was probably in the dressing room following the customary post-game swap. In reaction to Alvarez, Aguero wrote in defence of his old teammate: “Mr. Canelo, don’t look for excuses or problems, surely you don’t know about soccer and what happens in a locker room.”

“The shirts are always on the floor after the games are over due to sweat and then if you see well, he makes the movement to remove the booty and accidentally hits it.” While protecting their country’s captain from Alvarez’s insult, Argentina’s fans were shocked at the idea that Messi had purposefully disrespected Mexico. Even Mexican fans struggled to support Alvarez’s allegations, with the majority of them admitting that the Argentinian star was simply taking off his boots after the game.

The World Cup in Qatar has been exciting for Lionel Messi so far. Undoubtedly one of the favourites going into the competition were Argentina. The principal reason for that would be the fact that they had a 36-game undefeated streak. The whole football community anticipated that South America will open the tournament strong against Saudi Arabia.

Messi and team did, however, succumb to the Asian nation in the opening match, shocking Argentina’s supporters. Messi did well to strike in style from the penalty spot, but Saudi Arabia’s comeback in the second half made it irrelevant. The entire globe came to a standstill, mostly because no one had predicted Saudi Arabia’s victory over one of the biggest football team in the world.

Messi led Argentina to a win against Mexico in their second group-stage match. The PSG superstar gave them a 1-0 lead against Mexico with a stunning goal. After Messi delivered the ball to him following a corner kick, Enzo Fernandez curled the ball into the top right corner moments later.
