“You’re not very fast anymore” – Eden Hazard’s message to Belgian teammate after loss against Morocco at 2022 FIFA World Cup
Eden Hazard at the 2022 FIFA World Cup
The Belgium squad has been in the limelight for their contrasting interviews in this tournament. Belgium, who was once considered one of the best national teams in the world, has apparently grown too old to win the FIFA World Cup this year. Eden hazard reportedly got into an altercation with his Belgian teammates.
When Belgian captain Kevin De Bruyne was asked about the possibility of their country winning the World Cup this year, the captain replied that they they’re too old to win the competition now. “We could have won it in 2018, but not now. We all are too old now.”
Rumors said that Eden Hazard also had a heated moment with his teammates Jan Vertonghen after their 2-0 loss to Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Eden Hazard got into a brawl with the Belgian defender after their disappointing performance. Romelu Lukaku had to intervene between the two players to calm things down.
Although when asked about the incident, Hazard came clean on the problem and said that there were no problems between any teammates. “Nothing happened after the game against Morocco. The rumors? A lot of nonsense. We had a good meeting yesterday with all the players.” Hazard tod the press.
“I did not fight with him. I’m not an idiot. He’s bigger (idiot) than me. (laughs). I told Vertonghen ‘ You’re not very fast anymore’ and he replied that I was right.” Eden Hazard told the press today. Tensions seem to be rising in the Belgian camp after their lousy start to the World Cup campaign.
Belgium’s 2022 FIFA World Cup
The Belgium national team was ranked number 2 on the FIFA rankings before the World Cup began. They have superstars like Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, and Romelu Lukaku competing in the most prestigious football tournament on the planet. Although, things haven’t been as convenient for Belgium as it looks on paper.
Due to an aging squad, Belgium has failed to leave its impact on this year’s competition like in 2018. They narrowly won their opening game against Canada but were clearly dominated by the opposition. The lack of team spirit and a well-constructed strategy served as a huge upset for the Europeans in their next game.
Belgium lost 2-0 to Morocco in an embarrassing team display by all the players. They play against Croatia in their next group-stage game. Do you think Belgium can still qualify for the Round of 16?
