Brazil is searching for a new head coach after Tite resigned following the team’s quarterfinal exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Reports from the French newspaper L’Equipe indicate that Brazil has expressed interest in the 1998 World Cup winner and ex-Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. He is also being considered for the France job.
The Brazil Football Federation is reportedly hunting for a foreign coach following the nation’s failure to make it past the quarterfinals in the Russia and Qatar World Cups. This has been the case for them since the 2002 World Cup win. They secured the semifinal spot in 2014 when the tournament was played in Brazil. Zinedine Zidane is the fifth coach to be linked to the position, following Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and Rafael Benitez.
Zidane has been jobless since he left Real Madrid in May 2021. He has been considered for quite a long time as the replacement for France’s head-coach Didier Deschamps, who has directed the team since 2012. Zidane was also attached to Manchester United before the Premier League club designated Erik ten Hag. As a coach, Zidane won three Champions League and two La Liga titles with Real Madrid.
Tite has stepped down as head coach of Brazil after a heartbreaking loss to Croatia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Brazil was widely predicted to be victorious at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. But that dream was shattered when Croatia defeated them in the quarterfinals. The game went into extra time with the score at 1-1, and Croatia prevailed in the subsequent penalty shootout, advancing to the semi-finals while Brazil was forced to take flight back home.
Tite, 61 years old, has resigned from his position as manager of the Brazilian national team. This development isn’t too unexpected, as he had previously indicated this might be the case. He was appointed head coach of the team in 2016. Tite guided them to victory in Copa America in 2019.
In the World Cup, Tite steered Brazil to the top of Group G in the group stage, surpassing Switzerland, Cameroon, and Serbia. They subsequently defeated South Korea 4-1 in a performance of skill that convinced many that they would be successful. Unfortunately, an experienced Croatia squad eliminated the Brazilians from the tournament.
