Zinedine Zidane last managed Real Madrid lifting the LaLiga title in his final season.
French legend Thierry Henry has hinted at his old teammate, Zinedine Zidane saying that he is waiting to be the next manager of the France national team. Zidane, as a player lifted the World Cup in 1998 and also made it to the final in 2006, losing to Italy on penalties has been without a club for like one and a half years now with his last job being with Real Madrid in May 2021.
He made quite a mark in his first stint with Real Madrid having won three back-to-back Champions League titles, becoming the first player to do so. He also won two LaLiga titles with Real Madrid one in 2017 and the other one coming in 2021. His name always pops in whenever a manager role in one of the top clubs is vacant and many believed him to be the successor of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Zinedine Zidane was also heavily linked with PSG when Mauricio Pochettino left the club but it’s clear to every football fan across the world that he only wants one job now which is the national team. He has now been on the news about getting a job with Juventus after the club’s recent slump in form and fans have given up hope on their now manager Massimiliano Allegri.
What did Thierry Henry have to say about his ex-teammate’s managerial links?
When Thierry Henry was asked about the situation he told, “I’m not going to go there, I think he is waiting for the national team. So I’m not going to go there. I don’t think he will go there [Juventus]. I think he is waiting for one thing and one thing only and that’s the national team. You won three Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, why are you going to bother with other clubs when you can have the national team? I wouldn’t.“
He added, “I don’t actually know but Zizou has been waiting. He’s been linked with a lot of clubs and it never happened. I don’t think Zizou would want to do it, I can see him waiting for the national team and it makes total sense.” Zidane also answered the situation saying, “Do I miss the coach’s suit? No, I’m not far away, we wait, we wait a little bit. Soon, soon. I’m not far from coaching again.”
