So, Today let’s discuss 5 Players Who Took Premature Retirement From Football.
5. Alf-Inge Haaland – 30
![Alf-Inge Haaland is a classic example of 5 Players Who Took Premature Retirement From Football.](https://media.firstsportz.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/21003823/A117A4A3-856E-453D-9CEB-202984E2F7B4-1024x576.jpeg)
He was not a very high profile player that everyone would remember during his time. But there is one career highlight for which he is forever stuck in all Premier League fans’ minds.
It is that iconic heated feud he had with Manchester United Defender Roy Keane. It is unarguably football’s most heated bad blood revenge feud in the history of English Football.
But the fact is that Keane kicked Haaland on the right leg but he got retired with trouble in his left leg, He retired in 2003 at the age of 30. And Yes he is the father of the great Erling Braut Haaland.

4. Marco Van Basten – 30
![Marco Van Basten one of the all time greats of the game had to sadly hang up his boots and forced to take a Premature Retirement.](https://media.firstsportz.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/21003822/4C37C579-6ABD-4E84-968F-C13BB21B5C5A-1024x576.jpeg)
When the greatest footballer to ever kick the ball was once asked who according to him was the best player he ever saw, he replied- “ Its between Romario and Van Basten”.
These are the words by the late Diego Maradonna (El Diego), just imagine when the three time Ballon D’or winner had to retire from football at a young age of 30.
However, he had already been in a kind of retirement at the age of 28 years which got official two years later. because of his recurring ankle injuries which had literally cost him his career.
Van Basten was clearly a force to be reckoned with during his prime.
3. Brian Laudrup – 31
![Brian Laudrup one of the finest of his generation, The Danish International was instrumental in their 1992 Euro win forced to take Premature Retirement.](https://media.firstsportz.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/21003820/0612C947-62AB-4F24-8D04-9B284DF7997D-1024x576.jpeg)
He had enjoyed an immensely successful career. The Dane won three different league titles domestically and lifted the prestigious Champions League with AC Milan.
And he was also a vital part in the Denmark team that won the Euro 1992 and the Confederations Cup in 1995. So he enjoyed a pretty good International feat as well.
Sadly, due to injuries he had to take a premature retirement in the year 2000 at a young age of 31.

2. Just Fontaine – 28
![Just Fontaine insane record of scoring 13 goals in a single World Cup campaign speaks for itself. It is unfortunate he had to take a Premature Retirement at the tender age of 28 years](https://media.firstsportz.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/21003817/D797DCF1-E4AD-48FB-8D72-D5AB6DA18443-1024x576.jpeg)
He was one of the most prolific strikers of his generation. And during his prime he was capable of doing wonders with his feet. He has a ridiculous record in a single World Cup Campaign with France in 1958 by scoring an astonishing 13 goals.
It is still a dream for any player to reach there because that is an insane record. There is a reason why he has scored 30 goals in 21 caps for the French national team.
Sadly, he had to hang up his boots at a very tender age of 28 just four years after his iconic performance at the World Cup in Sweden.
1 . Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero
![Where to begin about Kun, this is one of the most saddening news in recent times. He had to take a Premature Retirement due to his ongoing cardiac issue
Balotelliiii…..AGUEROOOOOO! Forever❤️](https://media.firstsportz.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/21003815/ADB253B3-B9A6-440B-9D84-09C5F7057A73-1024x576.jpeg)
This one is quite frankly speaking the hardest one to do. Aguero may not be a Ballon D’or winner But he certainly stands as the greatest striker to ever grace the Premier League in the modern era.
Sadly, we won’t see him play again because of his medical condition due to which he took a premature retirement from the beautiful game and Leo Messi’s words says it all “ it hurts a lot to see how you have to stop doing what you like the most”
The world won’t forget that iconic “ Balotelliiii….Aguerooooooo” moment for life.
Conclusion
So this was the list of top players that we sadly didn’t see for long due to the injuries or medical conditions. We could have enjoyed many more years of these great Footballers, But life is hard sometimes especially being a sports fan as well as a professional player.
