Euro 2020: Portugal vs Germany Player Ratings as German blitzkrieg blows Portugal to smithereens.

Germany bounced back from their opening day defeat to France in style as they defeated the Portuguese 4-2 in a goal fest of a match, the highest scoring match so far in the EURO 2020. Germany had started the match on a bright note, but a swift counter from Portugal, finished off by the inevitable Cristiano Ronaldo handed Portugal a 1-0 lead.

Germany roared back as two quick own goals from Ruben Dias and Guerreiro put Germany into the lead going into half time. Germany hit back harder in the second half as lively Robin Gosens assisted and scored one goal to hand Germany a 4-1 lead before Diego Jota pulled one back to make it 4-2. With Germany’s win and France’s draw vs Hungary earlier in the day, the Group of Death is living up to its billing.

1 Rui Patrício (GK) – 6/10

Patricio made quite a good saves in the initial stages of the game, but was more than a helpless onlooker as Germany ran riot around him.

2 Nélson Semedo – 4/10

Semedo had a horror show of a game. He didn’t have any attacking output in the first half of the game, tried going up in the second half without much contribution, was defensively fragile and Germany piled up goals from his side itself.

3 Pepe -5/10

Looked out of sorts, as he had no answers for the attacking threat of the Germans.

4 Rúben Dias- 5/10

The Premier League player of the season had a game to forget as he turned the ball into his own net in the 39^th min.

5 Raphaël Guerreiro- 5/10

Guerrerio’s own goal handed Germany the equalizer, overall he had a poor game both attacking and defensive wise.

13 Danilo- 4/10

Was slow, and got caught out in the game, hardly had any influence on the game

14 William Carvalho – 4/10

Carvalho was non-existent in the middle of the park, as the game flew past him

10 Bernardo Silva – 5/10

Silva started the game positively as he picked a beautiful pass to switch play to Diego Jota who rounded off Neuer for Ronaldo to finish of a beautiful counter. However it was downhill for him since then.

Worst player on the field today. Was hardly found involved in the match

Scored one goal and assisted another as he put up a decent performance.

Scored a goal to finish of a beautiful counter and assisted another goal to bring in a decent showing today

Kept out few shots and had a decent outing with not much to do.

Relatively had a quiet day at the office, but he put up a decent showing

Ginter was a constant attacking source down the right wing for Germany and put in a good performance.

5 Mats Hummels – 7/10

Was solid throughout the game, his ball distribution from the defence was top notch

6 Joshua Kimmich – 7/10

Had a well-controlled game at the middle of the park, created plenty of chances for the Germans, put in a delightful ball for Gosens to score only to be ruled off-side. Assisted Gosen’s goal and Germany’s fourth of the night.

7 Kai Havertz – 8/10

The scorer of the UCL Final turned up in a fine fashion today as he scored Germany’s third goal of the day and was a constant thorn in the Portuguese defence

8 Toni Kroos – 7/10

Kept things simple and drove the game from the midfield as he usually does.

10 Serge Gnabry – 8/10

Serge Gnabry was very lively throughout the match and kept the Portuguese defense very busy.

20 Robin Gosens – 10/10

Best player on the pitch, Gosens drove and drove the attack from the left wing back as he put in a majestic performance and topped it off with a goal and two assist.

Had a relatively quiet game by his standard.

Didn’t have much to do, and had a relatively quiet game with little bits of attack here and there.
