Premier League announces eight-man Player of the Season nominees
De Bruyne, Ruben Dias and Harry Kane have been nominated for the Player of the Season award
The Premier League has officially announced an eight-man player of the season nominee list for the season which has just ended. Manchester City won the league by quite a margin as Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea finished in the Top-4.
Manchester City’s stellar performances showed in the nominees list as well, as they have two representatives in the form of Kevin De Bruyne and Ruben Dias. The other 6 nominees named are all from different clubs and have been chosen for their individual performances.
The Player of the Season award will be chosen on the basis of fan votes
The other six who have been named in the Player of the Season Nominees are- Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, Tottenham striker Harry Kane, West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek and Chelsea’s Mason Mount complete the star studded list.
Ruben Dias could land a double of individual accolades if he comes out on top, having already bagged the Football Writers’ Award in the same category. However, he will face tough competition from English striker Harry Kane who bagged both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award with most goals and assists throughout the season.
Premier League have also announced the nominees for the Manager of the Season which consisted of 5 managers from the 20 Premier League teams. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is the heavyweight to win the award after guiding City to a Premier League and Carabao Cup win this season.
The other 4 managers who have been named as nominees are Brendan Rodgers, who guided Leicester City to the FA Cup, Leeds’ Marcelo Bielsa, West Ham’s David Moyes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Manchester United.
