Ralf Rangnick has high praises for Manchester United defender
Manchester United manager appreciates Harry Maguire’s top professionalism as the club captain after being dropped from the team against Watford.
Harry Maguire was dropped to the bench by Rangnick for the goalless draw against Watford last weekend, and there are seemingly no guarantees he will be restored to Rangnick’s starting XI for this weekend’s Manchester derby.
In an interview, the Manchester United interim manager was asked about Maguire’s reaction to Ragnick’s decision to drop him.
He said, “Like a true captain, like a top professional.
“I explained it to him why for this game, against a team like Watford, you would look for a lot of transitional moments. That’s why I decided for tactical reasons to play with Rapha [Varane] and Victor [Lindelof].
“We have quite a few top central defenders, centrebacks, and those 3 are on similar level. This was only a tactical reasons. This was not a decision against Harry. It was a decision pro the other two in that game but on Sunday it might be difficult.
“So far, since I have met him three months ago, he has always behaved like a true captain, like a professional. When he didn’t play against Aston Villa in those two games, he did enormously well in training and then deserved to come back into the team. We have enough competition, we have, on each position normally two players who can play, and this is what it is all about.
Rangnick further assured that the Manchester United team has no problem with Maguire being the captain of the team.
“There are no issues whatsoever for me, or within the team about his role as a captain.”

Manchester United manager on his experience at the Premier League
Talking about his time in England so far, Ralf Rangnick admits that the Premier League is the most physical league and that there are no easy games.
“It’s the most physical league, you have no easy games, you have no games where you can say, now we can rotate eight players and still win the game.
“This is the big difference between this league and other European leagues.”
Rangnick’s men are on for a test against league leaders Manchester City in their next match as they travel to the Etihad Arena for the Manchester Derby tomorrow.
