Erling Halaand burst on to the scene of the footballing world when he scored nine goals in a single match for Norway against Honduras in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Since then he has become the hottest property of world football for his goal scoring exploits with RB Salzburg when he became the first teenager to score in five consecutive matches in the UEFA Champions League. Halaand continued his goal scoring menace after he switched to Borussia Dortmund in the December of 2019 and he has 126 goals in 170 matches for Dortmund making him the most sought after player in the transfer market.
Real Madrid has total agreement with Halaand
With PSG refusing to negotiate with Real Madrid over a potential move for Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid has turned their attention to their Plan B, Erling Halaand. According to reports by Marca, Real Madrid has been given the green signal by Halaand himself to discuss a potential transfer of Halaand to the Los Blancos.
The Norwegian International would definitely be looking for a move away from Dortmund in the near future. The menacing striker has a contract till 2024 with Borussia Dortmund, but has a release clause priced at 75 million euros which will be activated in 2022. Halaand has been in hot form since he signed up for Borussia Dortmund. The 21 year old has scored 41 goals in 41 appearances in this season, which included 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
Are Dortmund resigned to losing both Sancho and Halaand in the same transfer window?
While Real Madrid has received the affirmative signal from Halaand to start negotiations for a transfer, the harder part is negotiation with Borussia Dortmund who are known to play hardball. It is understandable that Dortmund would not risk losing Halaand to a sum of 75 million euros next year as they value the player at a whooping price of 150 million euros.
According to reports by Italian Newspaper La Repubblica, Real Madrid has an offer of 110 million turned down by Dortmund. Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez will be looking to strike a deal in the region of 130 million as he looks to bring a Galactico to the Bernabeu as an infuse of fresh air after a trophy-less season.
However the real question is will Dortmund sell Halaand in the same transfer window as they are inevitably set to sell Sancho to Manchester United this summer.
