Since 1903, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has hosted the Copa del Rey, a yearly knockout football tournament in Spain. The tournament sees up to 125 teams across the top divisions of Spanish football compete for the prestigious trophy only a handful of clubs have been able to lay their hands on.
The tournament has also seen some iconic El Clasico games being played in the past. One of the more memorable moments from the two teams competing for the trophy includes Cristiano Ronaldo taking off his shirt after scoring while indirectly taking a dig at Lionel Messi during the 2017-18 season.

Barcelona currently holds the record for most Copa Del Rey triumphs having won 31 titles since its inception. Real Madrid stands third on the list of most titles having won 19 in their history.
Surprisingly, Athletic Club stands firm with 23 triumphs at second place for most Copa Del Rey trophies. The most recent winners, however, are Real Betis who won their fifth title in 2022.
Who has scored the most goals in ties between the two clubs?
The tie in the cup competition has seen a plethora of goals being scored with 133 goals being shared between both teams in 36 games. Barcelona edge Real Madrid in this area as well, scoring 68, three more than their rivals.
As for individual goal-scoring records, Lionel Messi stands firm as the man with the most El Clasico goals with 26. Alfredo di Stefano and Cristiano Ronaldo are tied for second place with 18 goals.

Real Madrid edges Barcelona in overall wins winning 101 in comparison to Los Blancos’s 100. 52 of their ties have ended in a draw.
If we were to count exhibition matches or friendlies, Barcelona hold the advantage over their rivals winning 120 games, 15 more than Real Madrid. 10 of their exhibition ties ended in a draw.
