The La Liga 2020-21 season ended with Atletico Madrid taking the league title after a long drought of 7 years, in what was a topsy turvy season in the Spanish first division. Unai Simon of Athletic Bilbao was one more keeper who impressed the most in La Liga last year, and owing to his performances for the Basque club, he earned the position of Spain’s No.1 goalkeeper in the recently concluded EURO 2020. The goalkeeper missed just a solitary match for Athletic playing in 37 matches in the league and kept 9 clean sheets. However, he conceded only 40 goals at an average of just a goal per match.
#3. Marc-Andre Stegen – FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona’s Marc Andre Ter-Stegen also features in at number of 3 of the top goalkeepers in La Liga 2020-21. Despite not being at his best of form for the past season, the German Number 2 goalkeeper made a total of 31 appearances in La Liga and kept 11 clean-sheets. He also has a relatively lower goal conceded ratio with just 32 goals conceded in 2790 minutes overall during the campaign.
#2. Thibaut Courtois- Real Madrid
Thibaut Courtois was one of Real Madrid’s best players in the last season, as he kept displaying great goalkeeping skills day in and out to pull Madrid out of critical situations on innumerable occasions. The 29-year old Belgian, was one of the players in the league who featured in all of the league matches as he played out all 38 matches, registering 17 clean sheets to his name. He conceded only 28 goals throughout the campaign and was one of the key architects of Los Blancos’ 2nd position finish.
#1. Jan Oblak – Atletico Madrid
Probably the best goalkeeper in the world, Jan Oblak comes in at the top of the list of best goalkeepers in La Liga 2020-21. The Slovenian keeper has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers over the last few years and was critical in Atletico Madrid ending their La Liga trophy drought. He won the Zamora trophy- awarded to the best goalkeeper in Spain having 18 clean-sheets from his 38 appearances.
