Twitterati Reacts to Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Watford that sees them leapfrog Manchester United

Arsenal have registered an emphatic 1-0 win over Watford on Match-day 14 of the ongoing Premier League. With this, they have now overtaken Manchester United on the Premier league points table, acquiring the 5th position. This was Arsenal’s 6th win in the Premier League this season and it ensured that their 8-match unbeaten streak remains intact ahead of the International break.

The Gunners have made a comeback of sorts already this season. Everyone had written them off after the horrible start that they got to their Premier League campaign. The gunners had lost all of their first 3 outings, which was their worst ever start to a Premier League season. However, their manager Mikel Arteta has worked out wonders ever since and Arsenal’s little maestro Emile Smith Rowe, who was also the lone scorer in tonight’s face-off between Arsenal and Watford, deserves some credit for that.

The humiliation that Arsenal faced after losing the first 3 matches of the season forced Mikel Arteta to try out other options and making 21 year old Emile Smith Rowe a mainstay in their starting XI, was one of them. It turned out to be just the move they needed as soon enough, Arteta’s tactics started to be centred around the youngster and it worked out very well for the Londoners.

Their encounter against Watford tonight started off slow but Arsenal slowly started gaining momentum. Their second half display was phenomenal. Arteta’s men maintained 61% possession and had 14 shots (6 on target). However, the only goal that separated the two sides was a superb 56th minute strike by Emile Smith Rowe.

As mentioned earlier, this victory has taken Arsenal all the way up to the 5th position in the Premier League points table, right above Manchester United. That’s something to brag about for the Gooners as the Manchester United fans had trolled them a lot at the start of the season when they were in poor form. And boy did they exploit this opportunity.
