Sporting CP vs Dortmund: Match Preview
The two teams had an exciting matchup against each other in this year’s Champions League previously. As the kickoff whistle blew, both the teams went at the ball with determination to keep hold of the possession. Dortmund broke the shackles in the 37th minute of the game after Donyell Malen scored a brilliant goal. The match went quiet pretty much after that as Dortmund walked away comfortably with three points.
Currently, Dortmund are placed second on the Group C points table with two wins out of four games while Sporting CP are placed third on the table with two wins as well out of their four games. Both the teams would be hoping for a win here in order to overtake the other in the points table.
Sporting CP are walking into this encounter on the back of a fantastic 4-0 win against Besiktas. The first half was nicely taken care of, courtesy of a brace by Pedro Gonçalves and Paulinho’s goal in the 41st minute. As Sporting went 3-0 into second-half, it was only a matter of time before they were adjudged as winners. Shortly after the game resumed, Pablo Sarabia scored a brilliant goal to make it an overall 4-0 win.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are walking into this encounter with a 3-1 loss against Ajax. It was Marco Reus who got the lead in the first half by scoring a penalty kick for Dortmund. However, Ajax brought a magical turnaround. Back to back goals from Dušan Tadić, Sébastien Haller and Davy Klaassen in the late final few minutes handed a magnificent win to Ajax.
