With all of the European leagues getting into the groove slowly, it is now time the top European teams look forward to playing in Europe’s elite competition- the UEFA Champions League. A total of 32 European teams will fight it out come September to earn the title of becoming the best team in the continent for 2021/22.

All of that will eventually fall in place only after the teams know their opponents for the group stages which will set the template for the rest of the tournament.

When will the UEFA Champions League draw be held?

The UEFA Champions League Group stage draw will be held on the 26th of August at 4 P.M GMT (9.30 PM IST). The draw will be held in Istanbul, Turkey.

UEFA will also host the award ceremony for last year’s individual award winners ti acknowledge the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward from the 2020/21 season.

Who are the 32 qualified teams for the Champions League this year?

As mentioned earlier, a total of 32 clubs from across Europe will compete for the title. Out of those 32, 26 had already secured direct qualification into the competition courtesy of their league and European success last year.

The remaining 6 teams had to come up through the ranks playing in UEFA’s qualification stages which ended yesterday.

The teams have been placed in 4 Pots based on their UEFA club coefficients and each group will have a single team from all the 4 pots. Top status is given to the Champions League and Europa League title-holders along with winners of the six highest-ranked domestic leagues.

The first match day of the Champions League 2021/22 will be held on the 14th and 15th of September. It will be followed by 5 other match days with the final match day being played on the 7th and 8th of December.
