The rumors have had it. Fabrizio Romano has approved the rumors. Antonio Conte is linked with Tottenham Hotspur for the managerial job after he left Inter Milan. Antonio Conte left Inter as the club expressed their haplessness to spend in the summer transfer window. Daniel Levy is under serious pressure to bring in a proven manager despite not having top-tier European football.

Tottenham Hotspur sacked Jose Mourinho before the Carabao Cup finals in April and appointed Ryan Mason as the interim manager. However, with multiple players linked with an exit, Levy is seriously considering bringing the manager who can settle into the Premier League atmosphere quickly.

Antonio Conte ended Juventus’ dominance in Italy after they outclassed every opposition to lifting the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years. The Italian manager fits the first criteria of many players, that is being innovative and ambitious to lift the trophy. Though Tottenham Hotspur signed a serial winner like Jose Mourinho, he failed as the players got injured. Conte has not lost the dressing room in his managerial career and can perfectly fit into the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room.

Also, the former Nerazzurri manager is someone who commands respect from the players. He knows how to get the best out of players even in a precarious situation which ticks the second aspect that is favored by players and fans. Out of the available managers, he is one of the best and even can promise consistent results along with trophies. However, he needs proper financial backing from Daniel Levy and Tottenham Hotspur board.

However, every manager has some flaws and Antonio Conte is also not perfect. He is impatient if the players do not respond in a timely fashion. He doesn’t mind moving players away from the club if they don’t fit his style of play. Tottenham Hotspur must vary of this situation if they end up signing Conte.

Tottenham Hotspur have more central defenders at their disposal which helps Antonio Conte to field his favored 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation which he used at Chelsea as well as at Inter. Also, Romelu Lukaku was the target man at Inter whereas he can utilize Harry Kane in England. Pierre Emile Hojberg and Harry Winks can be the workhorse in the middle of the park. Nemanja Matic and N Golo Kante were the workhorses during Conte’s title-winning campaign in 2016/17. Heung Min Son and Lucas Moura can provide width for the attack if the manager utilizes 3-4-3 formation.

The lack of top-tier European football can help Tottenham Hotspur to focus on the domestic campaign and gain the Champions League action for the upcoming seasons. However, this has to be a long project as the club has to rebuild from the scratch. Harry Kane’s stance might also affect their transfer strategy.
