The youngster signed a 5-year agreement with the Eagles.
How would Marc Guehi’s style of play benefit the Eagles?
So how would the Eagles benefit from the youngster’s presence? Although Guehi has limited experience of top-flight football the centre back already gave proof of the stubborn resistance he could offer at the back when he played for Swansea City. Guehi can provide that extra width with his muscular tackles and his ability to regain possession with his speed and technical play. The former Chelsea FC player can cut the flow of the opposition attack with his sliding interceptions and has the ability to make timely clearances from inside the box. Guehi is a swift mover at the wings and has showcased solid defensive play with some brilliant blocks. Crystal Palace FC has appointed Patrick Vieira as the team’s new manager which could be an advantage for Guehi as it will provide major advancements to his game tactically. Vieira’s strategy revolves around attacking play and tactical craft which would also be advantageous for the youngster.
Crystal Palace FC owner Steve Parish recently stated that the young centre back is an exciting talent and would be a valuable addition. Guehi too is excited about his new venture and is ready for a fresh start which could propel his career to the next level. Guehi recently stated that playing for Chelsea for a short period of time helped him fine-tune his skills and helped him in his development. Guehi thanked his coaches who mentored him since childhood and those who helped him to reach this level. Guehi helped Swansea City reach the playoffs twice on the back of some impressive displays at the backline. Guehi’s collusion with defenders Patrick Van Aanholt and Mamadou Sakho would be crucial alongside the seasoned Gary Cahill. It would depend on the formation and the combination Patrick Vieira opts for which would give a clear idea of how Guehi is employed at the back.
The young defender would surely be a priceless addition keeping in mind his performances for Swansea City. Manager Vieira and the team management should ensure enough game time for the centre back. Crystal Palace higher-ups have made a smart move by signing the youngster which could add more stability at the backline and give enough alternatives keeping the longer process in mind.
