“My head is fine, but my body is getting old,” Zlatan Ibrahimovic on his fitness
Zlatan Ibrahimovic the 39 year old Swedish striker has been on the sideline with AC Milan for the most part of the year last season due to several injuries. After his return in the Lazio game, Zlatan scored a goal but soon after the match he was again reported with an Achilles Inflammation.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has always proven his class and is one of the best strikers to have graced the football pitch in the recent era. But we know even Lions get old and Zlatan “The Lion” has finally said in an interview that his body is not able to keep up with his mind right now.
“My head is fine, but my body is getting old, it doesn’t always keep up with it [the head] and it’s a problem. This year I have to listen to my body, every little signal it sends me,” Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his interview with Sportweek.
“Only by doing so, I can avoid worse consequences. I need to listen to my body every day to play consistently. I need to think slowly, day by day, and realise that I am not Superman.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has another year in his contract with AC Milan and manager Stefano Pioli has a great lot of expectation from the Swedish Legend.
“Ibra has given us a lot in terms of personality and depth. Zlatan is a great champion. I expect a lot from him from here to the end.” Stefano Pioli said.
AC Milan’s Current performance in the 2021/22 Campaign
Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed AC Milan’s first Champions League game because of his injury but will most likely be in the squad for their next game against the Spanish giants Athletico Madrid.
AC Milan has not lost a single game this season in the Serie A and is currently at the top of the table with 5 wins and 1 draw. They will be looking to secure their 19th Scudutto which they were very close to win last season but finished in a close second position just behind Inter Milan. In last 11 years AC Milan has not won the Serie A title but this season’s great start might be a golden chance for them.
