DiJonai Carrington faced tremendous backlash for immediately posting the term 'White Privilege' after being ejected.

DiJonai Carrington made headlines after whacking Sophie Cunningham in the face while trying to block her shot. But then, she made it worse when the Sky star labeled her ejection as ‘White Privilege’ that the Indiana Fever allegedly enjoys.
The 28-year-old posted this on Threads as soon as she reached the locker room. That means, with the game still in session, the attention of fans across the country naturally shifted to this claim rather than enjoying the contest.
Instantly, many slammed the Baylor alum for making it about race in a bid to defend her actions. Anyone who saw the replays knew that Carrington was at fault, and that the flagrant 2 and ejection were justified.
Cunningham said after the game that labeling the incident as something to do with race was an attempt on her opponent’s part to garner attention. The Missouri native reiterated that had the Fever or she enjoyed such privilege, she would have benefitted from it when she fouled Jacy Sheldon hard last year.
You are correct, Dijonai. My assumption, along with the majority of the sports world, was that you posting “white privilege” immediately following being thrown out of a game for fouling somebody white was regarding the foul… However, America is a speaker-oriented country, so the burden is on you for being clear, direct, and easy to understand.

This response came about after DiJonai Carrington replied to his earlier criticism about her original post. The former NFL linebacker felt that when everyone saw the ‘white privilege’ post on Threads, everyone understood it was about the ejection.

But if the two things are somehow not… https://t.co/WkBs0caw1R
That is because it was immediately after the foul on Sophie Cunningham, and Carrington is attempting to change the narrative around her initial Threads post, knowing how much backlash she has received.
DiJonai Carrington tried to twist the narrative around her ‘White privilege’ comment
Emmanuel Acho wrote this in response after DiJonai Carrington first responded to his criticism of her using the ‘White privilege’ acronym to justify her ejection.

I’ve never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was White privilege (that was your assumption). Try exercising your critical thinking skills… Furthermore, I’m the LAST thing from ignorant or asinine when it comes to speaking on “White privilege.”… I would never use that term as a rhetorical weapon, knowing the historical and social weight it holds without having the proper evidence to substantiate it.

The San Diego native pointed out that her education allowed her to learn a lot about the history of the Black community. Therefore, she would not have used the ‘White privilege’ term if she did not have the evidence to prove it.
But most importantly, Carrington pointed out to Acho that she did not use the term to justify the foul. That is why the former FS1 analyst decided to remind the Sky guard that the timing of her post immediately linked it to the incident.
Former NBA player laughs at DiJonai Carrington’s ‘White privilege’ comment
Acho was not the only former athlete to criticize DiJonai Carrington for using the term ‘White privilege’ to justify her actions towards Sophie Cunningham and the eventual ejection.
Wow. She bugging. That’s a foul.

The former NBA champion’s Club 520 podcast colleagues were laughing when they read Carrington’s Thread post. Jeff Teague‘s reaction came the moment he saw the post on their screen, and knew it was a hilarious way to justify her hard foul and ejection.

That, and the responses from other fellow Black athletes, show how much they disagree with the 2024 Most Improved Player of the Year award winner using a racial term to justify her actions.
