Former Barcelona defender Mathieu has criticised Antoine Griezmann’s form at the club
Former Barcelona defender Jeremy Matthieu believes that Antoine Griezmann made a mistake by switching over to the Camp Nou from Atletico Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann came to Barcelona in 2019 and since then has failed to show real consistent performances like he did at Atletico Madrid.
Mathieu speaks on Antoine Griezmann
Matthieu is correct in pointing out that Antoine Griezmann isn’t upto the same mark at Barcelona like he was at Atletico Madrid. Although the French international has had some decent spells there hasn’t been any consistency in his performances.
This is quite similar to Eden Hazard at Real Madrid who looks a shadow of his former self at Chelsea. Griezmann is not at his Atletico level,” Mathieu said.”Personally, in my opinion, it is a mistake that he came to Barcelona.
“At Atletico he was a very important piece and I don’t know if he has that importance at Barcelona.”
Mathieu also has defended Clement Lenglet amidst rising criticism over his poor run.
After conceding a penalty in the match against Cadiz, his foul gave away two crucial points for Barcelona. According to reports Clement Lenglet left the stadium in tears after coming under some fierce criticism.
Everyone is killing Lenglet now, and I know what that’s like. He has to try and be positive and to turn it around, and try his best.”
