Former British No. 1 Laura Robson believes Novak Djokovic will be one of the top contenders at this year’s US Open. She expects him to capture a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title in New York if he takes part in the event.

Djokovic is expected to return to the last Major of the year at Flushing Meadows, where he won his most recent Grand Slam last year. However, former World No. 27 Robson expressed concerns over the Serb’s readiness to compete on hard courts after a grueling few weeks in Paris that led to a historic Olympic gold.

The 25th Grand Slam doesn’t feel too far away for Novak, but he’s on a well-earned break and I think we will need to see if he even wants to show up at the US Open… He’s achieved something that he’s described as the pinnacle of his sporting career, so I think it’s quite hard to reset after that. We know he can win it! We absolutely know he can do it, but whether he wants to come back so soon is the challenge.

Djokovic is confirmed to feature in an exhibition doubles match alongside Carlos Alcaraz, John McEnroe, and Andre Agassi on August 21 as part of the US Open Fan Week. However, he has yet to confirm his presence in the final Slam of the year.

Novak Djokovic and other Head ambassadors to play Pickleball ahead of the US Open

After featuring in a charity exhibition with other legends of the game on August 21, Novak Djokovic will take to a different court the following day as he and other players sponsored by the racket manufacturing company ‘Head’ are set to play Pickleball.

Despite his concerns about Pickleball and Padel overshadowing tennis in recent times, the World No. 2 is confirmed to be present for the show. The event, called the ‘Head NYC Mash Up’ will feature the top two players in the world, Jannik Sinner and Djokovic, alongside Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova.

They will be accompanied by Callie Jo Smith, an American Professional pickleball player, and the event will be live-streamed on Head’s official Instagram page. The players will also be involved in creating unique artwork with an unnamed artist before the pickleball show.
