Former Alabama running back Ahmaad Galloway was found dead in his apartment on Monday. The cause of his death is still unknown to the police who are continuing with the investigation.
Although his career in the NFL never seemed to take off, he was mighty impressive with the Crimson Tide and left a long-lasting impression with them. During his sophomore and junior season, he rushed for 1,540 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.
His senior year was short-lived due to a knee injury. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL draft. He found it hard to be selected in a team packed with so many superstars and went on to the San Diego Chargers and even to the NFL in Europe before retiring shortly.
Ahmaad Galloway was working as an eight grade English teacher
Ahmaad Galloway was working as a teacher at Compton-Drew Middle School in St. Louis. Galloway’s body was found by the police after Principal Susan Reid lodged an official request for a wellness check after which his apartment was checked. Speaking about Ahmaad, Reid said that he was responsible so they knew something wasn’t right.
In addition, Susan Reid also mentioned that nothing suspicious was found in Galloway’s apartment which suggests that he wasn’t murdered and the cause is more likely due to a medical issue.
“Ahmaad was always on time, very responsible. So, we knew something might be wrong,” Reid said. “There wasn’t anything disrupted at Ahmaad’s apartment, so we are thinking that it could have been a medical issue.”
“He was an excellent teacher. He bonded with his students, particularly those who were interested in athletics.”
