Stephen A. Smith‘s hatred of the Dallas Cowboys is legendary around the league. Smith’s disdain for America’s team doesn’t stem from the fact that they have been under-delivering for well a long time. It’s something fairly personal.

Smith shared in an interview once that his high school sweetheart, his first love, was a Dallas Cowboys fan. And when they lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs in 1985, she dumped him because “Tony Dorsett rushed for only 58 yards.”

After the Cowboys’ humiliating 26-6 loss to the Washington Commanders in the final week of the regular season, Smith had way too much fun at the expense of their defeat.

On the sets of First Take, Stephen A. Smith enjoyed the Dallas’ loss and rubbed it in the face of Cowboys’ legend and Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin. He enacted the scene at Pinky’s record store between Craig and Pinky in Next Friday. “Shut up,” Smith shouted at Irvin. “Shut up! What happened to the Cowboys yesterday? What happened to them? Shut up! Say another word and this is over. What happened to the running game huh? What happened to the running game? Shut up!”

This hilarious reenactment of the scene received a thumbs-up from Ice Cube who starred in the movie. But it didn’t end there. Smith was yet to have his fun and troll the Cowboys till his heart was full. He dawned a Cowboy hat spoke in a Southern accent and pointed out everything Dallas did wrong against the Commanders. “You see you’re missing the big picture buddy,” Smith started off in the Southern accent looking like a cowboy. “You see, let me calm you down because what you’re trying to do is make sense of the senseless.”

Smith’s co-host Dan Orlovsky and Michael Irvin couldn’t control their laughter as the ESPN analyst went on to further demean the Dallas Cowboys. “Oh by the way that wasn’t Carson Wentz throwing that football. That wasn’t even Taylor Heinicke. That was Sam Howell,” Smith continued. He pointed out that the Cowboys lost to a third-string quarterback.

Smith continued saying that Dallas was playing with Dak Prescott under center, not a second-string or third-string quarterback, but their priced starter. Not just that, the Cowboys had Ceedee Lamb in the game who has 1359 receiving yards, and tight end Dalton Schultz playing. Despite having such star athletes playing the game, the Cowboys still lost to a third-string quarterback.

“I tried to tell you, be patient. They winning early but as the season wanes and the pressure mounts, all of a sudden you see cracks in the armor there,” Smith went on in his southern accent. Head coach Mike McCarthy said that there was plenty of blame to go around and it wasn’t just Prescott’s fault the offense died. He also mentioned that the team will review its tapes rather than burn them and rectify all of its mistakes as they head into the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys will face Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in the Super Wild Card weekend on January 16 at Raymond James Stadium.
