Boxing legend and former world champion Amir Khan recently became a captain in the Pakistan Army.

Amir Khan, a British-Pakistani boxer, has been promoted to the honorary rank of captain by the Pakistan Army. This happened one day after meeting Chief of Army Staff General, Syed Asim Munir Khan, who has won several international boxing championships, interacted with General Khan at GHQ Rawalpindi. Furthermore, he was also joined by the fighter Shahzaib-Rind, who recently knocked out Rana Singh in just 20 seconds in the ‘Karate Combat’ in Dubai.

The army chief commended the athletes for their remarkable sports feats and expressed full faith in the young generation of Pakistan for their great potential. The details of the interactions were revealed to the press through the army’s media wing and Inter-Services Public Relations. Subsequently, Khan posted a video of himself wearing the uniform of the Pakistan Army, along with pictures of him, on his Instagram account.

In one of his videos, the ex-boxer was chanting the Pakistan Zindabad slogan in the traditional style of army officers. He also posted another post where he received the guard of honor at the GHQ from several well-dressed soldiers.

On the way to the army headquarters, Amir Khan seemed happy to be recognized as a captain and expressed his gratitude to the Pakistan army. In addition, the former boxer shared the news with his fans and mentioned that it was an “honorary rank” given to him by the country of Pakistan.

Amir Khan set to potentially fight KSI

Beyond becoming a captain in the Pakistani army, Khan has a lot going on for him. As such, he is being lined up for a return to boxing with the potential fight against KSI. After losing to his rival Kell Brook in his final fight in 2022, the legend stepped down from the sport.

Furthermore, Khan tested positive for a prohibited substance, Ostarine, the night before the grudge match. He was suspended for two years in retirement and denied taking Ostarine intentionally. Now the crossover boxing scene is bringing back the 2004 Olympic bronze medalist inside the ring.

Subsequently, Slim Albaher revealed that he was offered a fight against Khan. As such, the winner of the fight will be able to fight KSI. In addition, Albaher remarked how this fight matchup was set up so that he could never fight KSI. This is because he believes he can’t defeat a former world champion. Khan was also interested in fighting Floyd Mayweather once.
