Abu Dhabi GP: Nikita Mazepin ruled out of raceday after testing Covid-19 positive

It hasn’t been a pleasant season for Hass’ rookies and ahead of the season finale showdown, Nikita Mazepin has been ruled out of the race after testing positive for Covid-19. The Russian driver tested positive after the qualifying session and will immediately be sent to quarantine as per the latest announcement of Haas. 

After being placed in the qualifying session on Saturday, Mazepin was scheduled to start the race from the last spot of the grid. But the shocking news came in just this morning, stating that he has tested positive of Covid-19 and is ruled out of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for all the right reasons.

Talking about the team, Haas had the option of putting another driver in its car, but decided to start only with Mick Schumacher.  

The team is in last place in the Constructors’ Championship, 13 points behind Alfa Romeo. The team does not look set to make up that difference in Abu Dhabi.

Having said that, talking about the condition of the Russian rookie driver, Nikita Mazepin has told his team he is doing well. He is asymptomatic and follows the guidelines that have been set. The driver is looking forward to next season, when he will be back with Haas.
