Christian Horner believes the Silverstone collision cost Max Verstappen from sealing the title early

Christian Horner the RedBull team Principal has recently come out in public to share his thoughts regarding Max Verstappen winning the world title in the final race of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In his opinion, he could have captured the title a bit early in the season.
It has been stated in Planetf1 that in the view of Christian Horner “There have been some big moments.” Here he was referring to the key moments of the 2021 season that in his opinion kept Max Verstappen from sealing the title on an earlier date. He feels that Max was almost flawless during the 2021 season it was just that on quite a few occasions during the season the luck was not on his side.
Christian Horner identifies key moments of 2021 season

While talking about Max Verstappen’s performance during the 2021 season of Formula1, he pointed out two crucial incidents that kept Max Verstappen in range of Lewis Hamilton.
The first incident that he talked about took place during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where Max blew his tire on the 46th lap of the 51 lap race. That incident cost him a potential win as he was looking all set to win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The next incident that Christian Horner gave a mention about was the Silverstone Grand Prix where Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton collided with each other on the opening lap of the race. Max was on the outside going into the corner and when they touched Max went into the barriers while Lewis kept on going in the race.
At the end of the race, more salt was rubbed into Max Verstappen’s wound as Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix and came away with crucial 25 points.

These two incidents in Christian Horner’s opinion were the deciding factors in Max securing the title in the last race of the season. He further added that no matter what Max did a mega season for them and managed to get the wins where they as a team were not expecting.
He highlighted the United States Grand Prix as the ultimate underdog victory of the season and applauded Max for getting it where they least expected it.
