“Could be a turning point if he has to take a penalty”: Problems for Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton

It seemed to be a good day for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes after the first practice session when he stamped his authority and emerged as the fastest driver. But soon things changed as Hamilton’s w12 endured a break down in the second practice session while Charles Leclerc and others went onto improve their performances and got to know the track even more.

A break down is something Lewis Hamilton has not experienced many times in his career. So what impact it will have remains to be seen, but the consequences could be quite significant if the worst-case scenario comes to pass. If the engine is indeed damaged, this could mean that he would have to take a grid penalty. At ZiggoSport Robert Doornbos says that there didn’t seem to be much going on.

What is Wrong With Lewis Hamilton

“By itself we don’t hear anything crazy. DRS is open and then he just lets go of the guest, he lets it roll out and he quickly realises he has problems. We don’t know what it is yet, maybe the whole power unit itself. That could mean he might have to sit at his pole and maybe take a grid penalty.”

“A sour day for Lewis Hamilton, as quoted by GP Fans.” This could well be a turning point if he has to take a penalty.” Later today or perhaps tomorrow morning we will know what the actual impact will be for Hamilton.

Having said that, neither was it a happy day for homeboy Max Verstappen as he too managed to finish fifth fastest. What happens in the Qualifying session tomorrow remains to be seen as the drama unfolds at Zandvoort.
