Damon Hill has urged George Russell to not knock spots of Lewis Hamilton
Damon Hill
Damon Hill the former Formula1 world champion has advised the Mercedes new recruit, George Russel, to not get the senior brit too riled up during the 2022 season of the Formula1.
It has been stated in Planetf1 that Damon Hill while talking about George and Lewis has quoted “I think it will be great to watch.” What he is referring to is the fact that Lewis Hamilton is getting a new partner after five years of service of Valtteri Bottas and feels that with George coming in, it is going to be interesting to see what kind of teamwork they are able to demonstrate on the track.
Damon Hill: Lewis Hamilton’s Formula1 timespan is shorter than George Russell
The former 1996 world champion has stated the obvious by saying that Lewis has got less time in Formula1 as compared to George Russell. Given that Lewis is 36, and the demands of the gig, it is totally understandable why Damon Hill said it.
On the other hand, George is a young bloke who is only 23 years old and has got a lot to give as compared to Lewis Hamilton who is in the twilight stage of his magnificent Formula1 career.
Damon Hill has further added that given what happened at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix it won’t be a surprise if we see a charged-up Lewis Hamilton during the season. In Damon’s opinion, Lewis would be raring to go and make history by becoming a world record 8-time world champion.
He has also indicated the fact that George would be eager to make his mark at Mercedes and would probably not want to play second fiddle to Lewis as Valtteri Bottas did in his five years with the Brackley-based team. He has suggested that it would be in George’s best interest if he is able to keep a low profile and not get too much involved with Lewis while fighting on track.
Damon is eagerly waiting to see what the two Brits are able to do in the 2022 Formula1 season and so are all the fans and the media who would be keeping a keen eye on both the drivers during the season, and given it is going to be George’s rookie season with the team, experts would be keen to observe George Russel’s progress during the season.
