George Russell urges Mercedes to be patient: “We’ve got to trust our team and just recognize that it’s going to take time.”

After Mercedes’ below standard start to the season, George Russell has come out to lead from the front. Mercedes’ prodigy, George Russell hasn’t had any help from the W-13. Despite that, the British driver has been able to grind out half decent results. Mercedes has been visibly struggling on the track as the team doesn’t seem to find the answer for the porpoising on the straights.
The standard set by the British team in the previous seasons has been ridiculously high. Hence, anything less than that seems like a disappointing result for their loyal fan base. This hybrid turbo era of F1 is a different ball game altogether and therefore, all the teams have to be on top of their game in order to make their presence felt. Mercedes has had to learn it the hard way after one of its worst starts to the season.
Both their drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, have not looked at ease with the car. But, George Russell has made his feelings known and urged his team to keep their composure while they continue to work on fixing their problems. The Briton might have scored his first podium with Mercedes in Australia but there seems to be a lot of work that needs to be done before Mercedes return back to the top.
George Russell said that it’s imperative to stay calm and composed in this difficult period for Mercedes
George Russell has accepted time and again this season that the car has been on ‘knife edge’. But, he still has the faith in his team to set it right. He said, “We’ve got to go about the process analytically.”
“We can’t do anything crazy. We know we want results and we want performance but if we do anything too drastic, we’re going to go backwards and not forwards.”
“We’ve got to trust our team, trust the process and just recognise that it’s going to take time. But we know there is so much potential in the car.” As reported by gpfans.
George Russell has already proved in his short stint with Mercedes that he has both the talent and the attitude to drive and deliver for one of the best teams in Formula 1. Mercedes would want to him to go on and launch from here on.
