Mattia Binotto and Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc and Mattia Binotto seem to have found the formula to roll back the glory days for the most successful team in F1’s history, Ferrari. The Italian Giants had a catastrophic decade as the team failed to go wheel to wheel with the pace setters, Mercedes and Red Bull. There were some promising signs in the last couple of years but it’s been this that the pieces seem to be come together and the team is in the league of their own.

Charles Leclerc has taken the competition by the scruff of the neck and demolished everything that has come in his wake. When we thought it’ll be a cake walk for Max Verstappen this year around after such a strong last season, Charles Leclerc had some other plans. Australian GP embodied the kind of form Charles Leclerc has displayed in this brand new hybrid turbo era of Formula 1.

But a large portion of Charles Leclerc’s success also goes to Mattia Binotto who has backed him all the way. There seems to be a father and son relationship between the two. Nobody can deny that Charles Leclerc is one of the hottest talents around in Formula 1. But no talent can grow without him being nurtured by an experienced mentor, and Mattia Binotto has played the perfect role of a guide in Charles Leclerc’s career.

Mattia Binotto even backed Charles Leclerc last year after the Monegasque driver’s average year. Charles looked dejected at the end of last year to which Mattia Binotto replied in Italian, “Next year we will have fun. You will see.”

Now Charles Leclerc seem to have return the loyalty shown by Mattia Binotto both on and off the track. Charles Leclerc on Mattia Binotto: “He has a very good capacity of calming down. Whenever there’s a tense moment, he’s always extremely calm.”

“This gives you confidence that everything will go well. This confidence helps the team to work the best way.”

Everything seems to be going in the right direction for both Mattia Binotto and Charles Leclerc but they can’t get the foot off the gas as Red Bull look for a crack in the armor to launch an attack.
