Mattia Binotto to Charles Leclerc:“Next year we will have fun”
Charles Leclerc achieved his first F1 grand slam in his career and the first for Ferrari in 12 years. He started the race in pole position and since then went unrivalled for the rest of the race. Leclerc expressed his dissent on the team radio. He congratulated his teammate Carlos Sainz who finished P3 and said, “This wasn’t my greatest year but I’ll make sure I come back stronger next year. We will pull everything together and hopefully get better positions.” To which Team Principal Mattia Binotto replied in Italian, “Next year we will have fun. You will see.”
Leclerc has won two races this year and the Ferrari driver extended his lead in the Drivers Championship in first place with 71 points. He is 34 points ahead of Mercedes’ podium finisher George Russell in the standings and another four points ahead of teammate Carlos Sainz
