“I don’t anticipate moving fast forwards,” Lewis Hamilton does not have high aspirations for the Saudi GP

Lewis Hamilton had a shocker last night in Saudi Arabia GP qualifying. It’s got to be one of the darkest days in the one of the most successful driver’s career. The man with record 103 poles under his belt could not make it out of Q1 last night. The seven time world champion didn’t seem to have any sort of control over the car and later on explained that he could have crashed in many corners.

The Briton was easily outqualified by his team mate George Russell, who looked better but no where close to where Mercedes is used to being. Neither of the drivers looked competitive. Lewis Hamilton struggled way more than this team mate. It could be a combination of wrong set of tyres, wrong strategy and Lewis Hamilton not being at his sparkling best.

But any which way, Lewis Hamilton looked dejected after the qualifying session as he just couldn’t improve with an ‘undriveable’ car. The problems seemed to be mounting up for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton as Ferrari and Red Bull look set to take a commanding lead if the problems aren’t resolved quickly.

It’s very unlike Lewis Hamilton to accept defeat even before the race but in a way that has happened. Lewis Hamilton in his post qualifying interview said, “I don’t know whether starting from where I am is going to be worth it.”

“Despite this, Hamilton is still not expecting to make great strides through the field.”

“I’ve got the same car as I had in qualifying, so I don’t anticipate moving that far forwards, but I’ll give it everything.” As reported by racingnews365.

Lewis Hamilton is a legend of the sport but his character hasn’t been tested on many occasions. This is one of those rare occasions. We expect him to raise his game and show what he can do when things are going south for the team.
