Ferrari continued their good run of form in 2022 after both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished P2 and P3 in the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The Italian racing team lead the constructor’s championship with 78 points, 40 clear of their Mercedes at 2nd, ahead of the Australian GP.
Both the drivers have finished on the podium of the first two races, with Leclerc claiming victory in the season opener in Bahrain. The Monagesque also claimed the fastest laps in the two races and leads the driver’s standings as well.
Leclerc credits the improvements to the team back at Maranello who have aimed at perfecting the regulations changes. But he still believes the F175 is just as good as their competitors Red Bull and the team needs to “keep pushing.”

With Charles Leclerc leading the charge with a fantastic star to the season, the Scuderia seem to be favourites to win the 2022 title. Ferrari has crafted a strong contender and looks the fastest on the grid. And their customer teams Alfa Romeo and Haas also seem to have much more competitive with the new power unit. But the Monagesque handled the appreciation in a modest way.
The Monagesque said, “Well, first of all, I can feel the difference from the car, the progress that’s been made from last year to this year and this is nice. It’s the result of all the work of the guys back in Maranello and it’s also a reason why we are much more competitive this year so it’s great to see that.”
He added, “On the other hand, I don’t think we have any advantage. I think we are very similar to where Red Bull is at the moment which they seem to be very strong, power unit-wise. We need to keep pushing but yeah, it is definitely a big step from last year.”
Ferrari’s strongest days post the 2010’s era were under Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikonnen as the team challenged Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes for the championship. The team finished 2nd but slumped in form and development during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The team look the strongest this season and looks to reaffirm their lead with a win in the Australian GP.
