“I hope Red Bull could bounce back; Mercedes currently hold advantage”: Timo Glock
Timo Glock
As the 2021 Formula 1 season is approaching its second half, Belgian Grand Prix will be the first battle which will feature Red Bull and Mercedes locking horns after the much-required break. Moreover, keeping in mind the new 2022 regulations, this will also give an idea to the race fans upon which team is focusing upon the development of their car in this season itself, to what extent. Especially after knowing the impact thin margins can create in this season.
Timo Glock suggested that it could play a huge role in the title fight. In addition, he also stated that Red Bull Racing will need to make a comeback as early as possible. Otherwise, it is just Mercedes who are going to run away with the proceedings as they currently hold the lead in the Constructor’s Standings.
Timo Glock on Mercedes Holding the Advantage Against Red Bull
Timo Glock explained in conversation with Speedweek that it could play a role in the title fight. “I hope Red Bull Racing can hit back, because right now it feels like the advantage is slowly moving towards Mercedes the past few races.”
He added, “The second half of the season is going to be very exciting. Two teams and two top drivers who are on equal footing. The question now is who will invest more in the current car and who will invest more in next year’s car.”
Lastly Glock expects that choice to play an important role for this year, but also for the coming years.
“My feeling says that Red Bull knows that this is a very big opportunity this year. As a result, they will spend more for success this year, which in turn could start to be a disadvantage for 2022,” Glock warned.
