“It’s about how fast it goes,” George Russell unfazed by the new sidepod-less design of W13 as he focuses on raw pace

Mercedes have sent the tongues wagging in the paddock with their sidepod-less W-13, but George Russell seems to be unfazed by their attractive design of their new challenger W-13. Mercedes and George Russell haven’t had the best of the start during the pre season as he struggled for pace during the Barcelona testing.
But it seems like Mercedes didn’t put their actual car out for testing as there were significant changes in the Bahrain testing. The new design of the W-13 is devoid of any ‘sidepods.’
The design was not tested until this Thursday but it has been reported that the car has been tested out on the stimulator and apparently it shall give a considerable edge to the duo of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton.
George Russell has its sole focus on how fast the W-13 can go and not on how sleek it looks without sidepods
But, George Russell has bought into this narrative as he looks for substantial evidence on the track to make him feel satisfied. Although he has been all praise for the work that Mercedes have put in the car both after the last season and also in the time between the Barcelona testing and Bahrain testing but he still awaits to test out this new design. He has made it clear that it does come down to pace and not design.
George Russell said, “He does look interesting. But it’s not about how it looks, it’s about how fast it goes. So I don’t think much else about it. “
“Of course, he certainly caught some looks this morning. I can only be proud to be part of this team.“
“The Briton closed his speech by reiterating that it doesn’t matter what the W13 looks like now, what matters is how fast it is on track.” As reported by gpblog.
Mercedes has high expectations from George Russell and their new challenger W-13 as it prepares to take revenge from likes of Red Bull and return to the top of the driver’s championship as well.
