Lewis Hamilton has more than 27 million followers on Instagram alone to go with his millions of followers across different platforms. This shows how popular the Briton is across the world. But this not how he sees it now and this change has come with time in the sport. At first, when he got that sudden recognition and fame because of his talent on track, he didn’t actually know how to make use of it.

But, there’s has been a definite change in the way Lewis Hamilton perceives social media and understands the importance and the consequence of everything he posts on social media. The Briton has won almost every accolade that the sport has to offer but is still hungry more more. But, for him, he’s at that point in his career that he gives equal if not more importance to standing up for the right thing.

As he has gotten older, he has realized that social media can definitely be the platform to reach out to millions of people with just a click of a button. This has made him re evaluate what he should post and what he should omit from posting. Lewis Hamilton has never held himself back to speak for any strata of people who have been subjected to any form of atrocity irrespective of their caste, color, race or gender.

This speaks volumes about the character of the person. He recently highlighted the importance of social media in bringing about a change. Lewis Hamilton said, “When I was younger and first getting into social media it was very much about building up your platform because obviously the more followers you have the more influence you have.”

“Then as I started getting older, realising that when I press this button it’s coming up on other people’s phones, what do I want that post to say.”

“I was like I want to take a step back, I want to re-evaluate my life, to re-evaluate where I am and I came to the realisation that I’m not going to let that define my career.” As reported by skysports.

Lewis Hamilton is at the tail end of his career but the hunger to do better than the competition and to win another championship is ever present. But that is not the priority now. The priority is to make good use of his influence which would help him in bringing about a meaningful change.
