After announcing that this will be the last season for the most celebrated and long-lasting driver in the history of the sport, Kimi Raikkonen test covid test and was side-lined for two races. Now, it comes to be known that the Alfa Romeo driver is all set to return to action ahead of the start of Russian GP from September 24 to September 26.
Robert Kubica took the place of the 41-years-old driver during the Italian and Dutch Grand Prix. Knowing that this will be the final chapter is his elite career, Raikkonen will be expected to be as fierce and competitive as possible. The Finnish driver, who is a former world champion has started 341 races since making his debut with Sauber in 2001. He is the last driver to win a world championship for Ferrari, which he did in 2007.

Raikkonen was initially having to self-isolate in the Netherlands but within the following few days, he was able to travel home to Switzerland. The 41-year-old Finn, who is retiring from Formula 1 at the end of the season, missed the Dutch and Italian races after contracting coronavirus.
“I am all good. See you at the next GP,” he posted on Instagram on Monday.
Having said that, as the world championship race is getting interesting, race fans could be in for a nail-biting finish to determine who the world champion could be. With Max Verstappen being penalized with a 3-place penalty for the next race (Russian GP), Lewis Hamilton will be eager to bounce back after failing to score any points. However, with McLaren securing the first 1-2 of the season, all eyes will be on the Papaya line-up to see if they could build up their upward trajectory at Russia.
