Lando Norris the Formula1 driver for the McLaren F1 team like the various other drivers have been making the most of his time off from the sport and recently he was seen at the wheel of a go-kart.
As per the Formula1 Instagram account, the McLaren Formula1 team starlet, Lando Norris was recently seen competing against a nonracing driver on a karting track. He went up against F1 Reporter Laurent Baretto in 1 timed lap and one five-lap race competition.
As words of advice for Laurent before the competition, Lando said, “Don’t crash, it’s a brand new kart, try not to lock up the rears too much.“
When it came to the one-lap competition Lando won hands down as he completed one lap in only 49 seconds whereas Laurent took a time of 1:15:2 to complete the lap.
As far as the five-lap race was concerned Laurent was given a one-lap head start and even then during the closing stages of the race Lando was able to get ahead of Laurent and win the race. Kudos to Lando for an amazing showing, although, against a non-racing driver.
Big 2022 season ahead of Lando Norris
Lando had an amazing 2021 campaign for the McLaren Formula1 team where he was able to overshadow the experienced former RedBull driver Daniel Riccardo.
Lando during the 2022 Formula1 season was able to finish in the sixth position with 160 points for the McLaren F1 team. McLaren and Ferrari were engaged in a season-long battle for third in the constructor’s championship and most of it was down to the efforts of Lando Norris.
His teammate Daniel Riccardo struggled during the season to get to grips with the car and on occasions, the young Lando was able to carry the team single-handedly. The 2021 season made the F1 community aware of the caliber of Lando Norris.
He has quickly risen up the ranks in Formula1 and it would be in Lando’s best interest that he is able to keep up his good form during the 2022 campaign of Formula1. If he is able to challenge the big teams like Mercedes and RedBull during 2022 then it is bound to open new doors for Lando and who knows we might even see him driving for champion teams like Mercedes in the future.
The 2022 Formula1 season is expected to be one of the most closely fought seasons in F1’s history and if this is the case then it would present the drivers with the best opportunity to showcase their talent at the wheel. The upcoming season is going to be an important season for all the drivers and Lando Norris would also be looking to prove his mettle once and for all during the upcoming season.
